Standard Machine Parallel Interface
Standard Machine Parallel Interface (SMPI) is an optional feature
available for the Select Cure IR oven. This feature combines sensor and
machine-to-machine communications to allow detection of problems
when transferring a board from an upstream machine to a downstream
machine.
SMPI communications are achieved using sensors 1 and 4. Sensor 1 is
located at the beginning of the entrance module, while sensor 4 is on the
end of the exit module. These sensors work with upstream and
downstream
equipment during board handling. As product passes
sensor 1, the oven verifies the product acceptance with the upstream
equipment.
Sensor 4 checks for product backup at the exit end of the oven. If a
board remains under sensor 4 too long, the blue light turns on to alert the
operator.
In a standalone oven, the blue light tower warns the operator to remove
the product it backs up to sensor 3. If product is backlogged over sensor
4 and backs up to sensor 3, the oven will sound an alarm and turn off,
and the screen will display an error message.
In an automated line, Traffic Control will not accept product if there is a
backlog over sensor 4 and the downstream equipment is not requesting
product. If, however, the downstream equipment is requesting product
and product is backlogged over sensor 4, the oven will sound an alarm
and turn off, and the screen will display an error message.
