
Checking Wing Balance
This procedure describes how to check the balance of each wing.
IMPORTANT:
To ensure correct wing balance readings, make sure the header
fl
oat is set properly before proceeding. Refer
to
Checking and Adjusting Header Float, page 56
.
WARNING
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key
before making adjustments to machine.
If a header wing has a tendency to be in a smile (A) or
a frown (B) position, wing balance may require adjusting.
Perform the following steps to verify if the wings are not
balanced and the degree of imbalance:

1. Adjust the header center-link to approximately halfway
between
B
and
C
on indicator (A).
2. Park combine on level ground and raise header until
cutterbar is 6–10 in. (152–254 mm) off the ground.
3. Stop engine and remove key.
4. If installed, move transport/stabilizer wheels so that
they are supported by header. Refer to
