CN4093 Application Guide for N/OS 8.4

Virtual Distributed Switch

virtual

Distributed

Switch

(vDS)

allows

the

hypervisor’s

NIC

attached

the

vDS

instead

its

own

virtual

switch.

The

vDS

connects

the

vCenter

and

spans

across

multiple

hypervisors

datacenter.

The

administrator

can

manage

virtual

machine

networking

for

the

entire

data

center

from

single

interface.

The

vDS

enables

centralized

provisioning

and

administration

virtual

machine

networking

the

data

center

using

the

VMware

vCenter

server.

When

member

added

distributed

group,

distributed

port

group

created

the

vDS.

The

member

then

added

the

distributed

port

group.

Distributed

port

groups

vDS

are

available

all

hypervisors

that

are

connected

the

vDS.

Members

single

distributed

port

group

can

communicate

with

each

other.

Note:

vDS

works

with

ESX

4.0

higher

versions.
