DIMM-processor compatibility
The installed processor determines the type of DIMM that is supported in the server:
• First-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support DDR4-2666 DIMMs.
• Second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors support DDR4-2933 DIMMs.
Mixing DIMM types is not supported. Install only the supported DDR4-2666 or DDR4-2933 DIMMs in the server.

Installing a DIMM
Procedure
1. Remove the front bezel.
2. Power down the server.
3.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
5. Do one of the following:
• Server in tower mode:
Position the tower server for hardware configuration.
• Server in rack mode:
Extend the server from the rack.
6. Remove the access panel.
7. Remove the air baffle.
8. If you are installing a DIMM for processor 2, and the fan cage is present, remove the fan cage.
9. Open the DIMM slot latches.
10. Align the notch on the bottom edge of the DIMM with the keyed surface of the DIMM slot, and then fully press the
DIMM into the slot until the latches snap back into place.
The DIMM slots are structured to ensure proper installation. If you try to insert a DIMM but it does not fit easily into
the slot, you might have positioned it incorrectly. Reverse the orientation of the DIMM and insert it again
