Installing the incubator
6
Connect one end of the power cord to the power connector on the agitator, and the other end to the
corresponding outlet inside the incubator.
7
Connect the power to the incubator. For i.Series model agitators, the backup battery for the motion
alarm in the agitator charges upon connection, and continues charging as long as the door or doors of
the incubator are closed.
8
Turn on the agitator and close the door or doors of the incubator. Verify that the agitator does not
contact the sides of the incubator while in motion.

Connecting external monitoring devices
!
CAUTION:
Do not connect a monitoring device if it exceeds the maximum load capacity for
your model. For more information, see
Section 9.3.1.5, “Load capacity for alarm
contacts.”
The Helmer incubator provides connectors to send information to external devices.
For more information about the location of the ports and connectors, see Section 2.3, “Touring the rear.”
3.11.1
Connecting to the remote alarm interface
The remote alarm interface is a relay switch with three terminals: Common (COM), Normally Open (NO),
and Normally Closed (NC). These terminals are dry contacts and do not supply voltage. The interface
circuit is either normally open or normally closed depending on which terminals are used.
For PC2200i and PC3200i models, a bypass plug may be needed for a normally closed interface circuit.
This plug is only needed if multiple agitators are installed and not all the agitators are Helmer i.Series. For
each position in which a non-Helmer i.Series agitator is installed, this plug must be installed in the I/O
connector. To obtain a bypass plug, contact Helmer or your local distributor.
For a list of alarms that are provided through the remote alarm interface, see
Section 9.2, “Alarm reference.”
The requirements for your alarm system determine which wires must connect to which terminals.
To connect to the remote alarm interface
1
Disconnect the power from the incubator.
2
Do one of the following:
►
i.Series models: On the front of the incubator, behind the control door, turn the key switch to the
Off (
) position to disable the backup power to the monitoring system.
►
Horizon Series models: Disconnect the backup battery for the power failure alarm.
3
On the rear of the incubator, in the alarm output area, locate the remote alarm interface.

4
Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals according to the requirements for your alarm system.
5
Using a cable tie, secure the wires together for stability (as needed).
6
Enable the backup power and reconnect the power to the incubator.
