3.6
Enabling backup power
Certain systems on the incubator have backup batteries, enabling them to continue operating if AC power to
the incubator is lost.
For information about the backup battery for the chart recorder, see
Section 3.9, “Preparing the chart recorder.”
3.6.1
Enabling backup power for the i.Center monitoring system
NOTE:
This section only applies to i.Series models.
Backup batteries enable the i.Center monitoring system to continue operating if AC power to the incubator
is lost. While running on backup power, the monitoring system will continue to monitor the status of the
incubator and activate all alarms as appropriate.
When the battery backup system is properly configured, the monitoring system can continue operating on
backup power. However, AC power must be connected and turned on to start the monitoring system.
Battery life varies by battery manufacturer and the voltage level remaining on the batteries. Providing that
no battery-related alarms are active, backup power for the monitoring system is provided for two hours. For
more information about battery-related alarms, see Section 9.2, “Alarm reference.”
The batteries are located under the access panel on top of the incubator. For more information about replacing
batteries, see Section 7.2.1, “Checking and replacing batteries for the i.Center monitoring system.”
