Platelet Incubator Operation Manual
To enable backup power for the i.Center monitoring system
!
WARNING:
Removing the access panel from the incubator exposes you to the risk of electric
shock. Regulations for your organization may require that only designated service
personnel remove the access panel. Follow the guidelines for your organization.
1
Turn off the incubator and disconnect it from AC power.
2
Confirm that the backup batteries are installed. Incubators are shipped from the factory with the
batteries installed. The batteries are located on top of the incubator under the access panel.
3
Using the alarm key, turn the key switch to the On (
│
) position. The key is shipped from the factory in
the accessories box, and the key switch is located on the front of the incubator behind the control door.
3.6.2
Enabling backup power for the power failure alarm system
NOTE:
This section only applies to Horizon Series models.
The power failure alarm system has a backup battery, which enables the alarm to be activated if AC power to the
incubator is lost.
The battery is located behind the control door on the front of the incubator. Depending on the model, you may
need to connect the leads to the battery. For more information about replacing the battery, see Section 7.2.2,
“Testing and replacing the battery for the power failure alarm.”

►
Confirm that the backup battery for the power failure alarm is installed and that the leads are connected.
3.6.3
Enabling backup power for the motion alarm system
NOTE:
This section applies only to PC4200 models, which have a built-in agitator.
The built-in agitator has a motion alarm system that is independent of other alarms on the incubator. The motion
alarm system has a battery backup, which enables it to continue operating if power to the incubator is lost.
Unlike other backup batteries for the incubator, the battery for the motion alarm system is rechargeable.
The battery charges continuously while the incubator is receiving AC power and the incubator is turned on.
If the incubator were to lose AC power, agitation would stop; however, the backup battery would continue
to power the motion alarm system and thereby activate the motion alarm. The amount of time that the alarm
system can function on battery power depends on the charge that remains on the battery.
The incubator is shipped from the factory with the battery installed. For more information about replacing
the battery, see Section 7.2.3, “Testing and replacing the battery for the motion alarm.”
