Platinum TV Monitor
Board Upgrade

G.1

Introduction

This section provides upgrade procedures for firmware and memory of the Monitor
Board in the Platinum TV Series analog and digital transmitters. This upgrade is
necessary to enable the RS-232 serial port on the Platinum Monitor Board. If the
Sentry™   program was already being used with the transmitter, then some or all of these
upgrades may have already been installed. The necessary upgrade components are only
included with the eCDi™   installation kit if the eCDi™   was ordered for a Platinum
Analog transmitter. For almost all Platinum Digital (DTV) transmitters, only additional
jumpers are required and these are included with the eCDi™   installation kit.

IMPORTANT:

If your Platinum Digital transmitter requires the U17/U18 upgrade (as described
in this section), please call Harris technical support to obtain the following
upgrade components:

Software upgrade kit - 917-2235-003 (consists of 2 EPROMs)

•

Kit, Platinum Monitor - 994-9267-004 (consists of 2 memory ICs and

Decoder PAL IC)

Once this firmware and memory upgrade are completed, return to

"2.4.3 PlatinumCD

and Platinum Analog TV Transmitters" on page 2-13

to finish the installation of the

eCDi™ .

NOTE:

The term Sentry™ refers to the original serial remote monitoring and control
software which was available for the Platinum Series TV transmitters.
