Section 6 SNMP Connectivity

•

SNMP V3 - (Figure 2-27 on page 2-36) This is only required if SNMP V3 is

going to be used. It allows setting of Usernames and passwords (not
effective in V1 or V2), selection of security option and deletion of users. It
also has a checkbox that allows use of V3 only (recommended) which blocks
the use of V1 or V2 logins.

NOTE:

Please read and follow the entire eCDi™ Configuration procedure under the
heading "2.8 eCDi™ Configuration" on page 2-26. Once the eCDi™
configuration is complete return here to download the MIBs.

6.3

Downloading the MIBs

The MIBs are already loaded onto the eCDi™ and can be downloaded using the Service
eCDi Menu then selecting MIBs. This will open at the screen shown in Figure 6-1
(Administrator password not required to download the MIBs).

Each MIB must be downloaded individually and will be stored as a zip file. When
extracted, the MIB text file can be viewed with any text editor. At the very least, the

Transmission SMI

(Structure of Management Information) and the

Base MIB

must

both be downloaded, with all other MIBs optional. The

Transmission SMI

MIB should

be compiled first then the

Base MIB

and then any other available MIBs can be

compiled. In the example, in Figure 6-1, there are 4 MIBs available. Your available
MIBs may be different.

NOTE:

The MIBs available in the MIB Download screen are determined by the Feature
Key, which is determined by transmitter configuration and purchased options. If
a desired (or purchased) MIB does not show up on this screen please call a Harris
Sales Representative or Harris Technical Support.
