Section 2 Installation & Setup

eCDi ™

2.7

Initial Turn-On

Once the unit is installed, it is ready to be turned on. The power switch is located on the
back of the unit on the right hand side.

At this point the following connections should already be made:

1.

AC power connection to the eCDi™ unit (110/220Vac).

2.

Serial connection to the transmitter controller.

3.

Serial or Ethernet connection (whichever is required) to the exciter(s).

4.

Ethernet Uplink jumper on the back of the eCDi™ unit from the LAN port
to the first port on the internal switch (see Figure 2-2).

5.

Ethernet connection from the WAN port on the eCDi™ to a hub on the Sta-
tion LAN or WAN. A 50ft RJ-45 cable labeled “WAN” is provided for this
connection.

NOTE:

The WAN connection will not be able to be accessed until after the eCDi™
configuration is finished in the following paragraphs. Configuration requires
connecting an external computer to the RJ-45 Config port on the front of the
eCDi™ using the provided 6ft ethernet cable that is labeled “Configure”.

IMPORTANT:

All ethernet cables connected to the eCDi™ should be shielded twisted pair
(STP) category 5 (Cat 5) cable. All cables supplied with the eCDi™ are shielded.
