Front Panel Operation

are best changed by entering the new value with the keypad and pressing the appropriate Units key. The
values can then be fine-adjusted with either the Step keys or the adjusting knob.

If the power level settings involve changes to the Step Attenuator

(i.e., levels below 0 dBm), the List Run time should be closely

monitored. The Step Attenuator uses electro-mechanical actua-

tors. These actuators require 25 ms to operate. List Point dwell

times should be at least this long. The electro-mechanical actua-

tors have a large, but finite, maximum number of operations. Be

sure the List Mode is not left on for long periods of time if the

Step Attenuator is being switched.

Existing points can be deleted by first moving the cursor to any parameter within the point, and then
pressing

[Delete Point]

. The cursor position identifies the point to be deleted.

Edit List

Edit List generates a list by specifying the Start, Stop, Step, Dwell and Power Level. The range of the
individual lists can be edited by pressing

[Edit List]

. The menu in Figure 2-11 will display.

Press

[Insert Range]

to generate the list. This can take some time to complete (about 10 ms per point).

Once done, the list will appear on the screen. Individual points can now be edited as needed to change
common parameters.

NOTE:

Points do not have to be entered in any numerical or other order. They can be

inserted in any order.
