FM Subsystem Commands

(Series 12500A/12700A Only)

The Frequency Modulation command subsystem sets the modulation controls and the parameters
associated with the FM signal(s). The FM commands used in the 12000A are:

Syntax:

Example:

FM 100

! Set the FM deviation to 100 Hz

Description:

This command sets the modulation deviation of an FM signal. The unit for deviation is

Hertz (Hz).

FM:INTernal:FUNCtion:SHAPe

Syntax:

FM:INTernal:FUNCtion:SHAPe OFF|SINE|SQUare|TRIangle|PRaMP|NRaMP

Examples:

FM:INTernal:FUNCtion:SHAPe SINE

FM:INTernal:FUNCtion:SHAPe OFF

! Set the FM waveform to SINE waveform

! Set the FM waveform to OFF

Description:

Allows user to assign an FM waveform from one of the following choices: off, sine,

square, triangle, positive ramp and negative ramp.

FM:SENSitivity

Syntax:

FM:SENSitivity <

Num_Val

Example:

FM:SENSe 10

! Set the FM sensitivity to 10 Hz/volt

Description:

This command controls the modulation deviation by setting a sensitivity Modulation to

the modulation voltage level. The unit for SENSitivity is Hertz/volt (Hz/V).

FM:SOURce

Syntax:

FM:SOURce INTernal|EXTernal (EXTernal|INTernal)

Example:

FM:SOURCe EXTernal

! Select the FM signal source

Description:

Selects INTernal and/or EXTernal sources for the modulating signal. Single or multiple

sources can be selected. Any source not included in the current selection will be

deselected and turned off. When multiple sources are selected, the respective sources

must be suffixed with a number. If a number is not included, it is assumed to be 1.
