5.
Fill in the DS0 column with the timeslot assignments to be made in Circuit Configuration:
A 64 kbps channel can be assigned to any available DS0; the only constraint is to
make sure there are no duplications.
When a Channel A is to operate at 128 kbps (Channel B disabled), you must config-
ure both Channel A and Channel B DS0s for the loop because both carry the Channel
A data. The Channel B DS0 must immediately follow the Channel A DS0; the Chan-
nel B DS0 must not be 1.
A disabled channel does not require a DS0 assignment when the other channel in its
loop is 64 kbps or disabled.
6.
When the worksheet is complete, recheck to make sure no DS0 assignments are duplicated.
7.
Use the completed worksheet as a guide when you perform Unit Configuration and Circuit
Configuration.
Unit Configuration
The UAS 7616 Unit Configuration screen shown in Figure 4-4 presents a screen of configuration
options for setting the operating speeds of the two channels that make up each of the three loops
the unit can support. Each loop consists of two channels, designated A and B. You can configure
a loop to support one 64 kbps channel (A or B), two separate 64 kbps channels (A and B), or one
128 kbps channel (A only).
Each on-screen option is the setting for one channel, identified by a selection number. Each
displays its current setting.
Table 4-1, which follows the figure, lists the settings available for each option. The table is
followed by the procedure for setting options and saving the configuration settings.
The four display fields at the top of the screen are fixed values.
