Alarm Monitor Screen
The Alarm Monitor screen displays alarms grouped into three categories, Declared, Near-End
Performance, and Far-End Performance. Declared alarms are those the unit reports simply on the
basis of whether or not the condition exists. Performance alarms are those the unit determines on
the basis of Time Interval and Count Threshold values configured separately for each
performance alarm in the Alarm Thresholds screen.
Declared Alarms
Loss of Signal (LOS) – occurs when the unit senses the absence of E1 signal. Absence of
signal for a time equivalent to 175 bits (± 75) is considered no signal.
Loss of Framing (LOF) – occurs when the NIU misses two out of four E1 framing bits
Alarm Indication Signal – reported when the unit receives an AIS at its E1 interface
Timing Loss – occurs when the unit loses timing from its configured primary Transmit
Clock Source
Remote Alarm Indication – reported when the unit receives an RAI at its E1 interface;
RAI indicates the remote is experiencing LOS or LOF, or receiving AIS from the local unit
Performance Alarms
Error Seconds – an Errored Second contains at least one CRC error or Out of Frame
(OOF) event; the alarm occurs when Errored Seconds exceed configured interval and
threshold limits. A near-end alarm is based on data being received at the local UAS 7002
NIU; a far-end alarm is based on data being received at the remote.
