10.1.4 Disabling unhealthy satellites
Every GPS satellite contains information about abnormal satellite number(s) in its Almanac,
which is received each time the GPS receiver is turned on. Using this information the GPS
receiver automatically eliminates any malfunctioning satellite from the GPS satellite schedule.
Once the malfunctioning satellite is returned to online status it is automatically restored to the
satellite schedule when the GPS receiver receives the Almanac. In some instances however the
Almanac may not contain information which announces a malfunctioning or restored satellite. If
you hear of this information from another source you can manually delete or restore the satellite
to the satellite schedule as appropriate.
1. Select Yes from the Disable Sat No. field. A list of satellite numbers appears.
2. Select satellite to disable with arrow keys, and press the
key to display it in reverse video
to deselect; normal video to restore it.
3. Press the [ENT] key.
10.1.5 Cold starting the receiver
Cold start erases all GPS data (including the Almanac) stored in the GPS receiver. If the GPS
receiver is not used for more than one year it will take quite a long time for the receiver to find its
position. This is because the data in the Almanac is too old to use to find position. In this case,
execute cold start to receive the latest Almanac.
1. Select Yes from the Cold Start Field.
2. Press the [ENT] key.
It takes about two minutes to find position. GPS 2D appears when position is found.
