5.3 Cabling the ETERNUS CS800 S6 System
Figure 67: Entry System with 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel and with 10 Gb/s Ethernet
Proceed as follows to cable the system:
1. Connect a power cable to each power supply of the components.
CAUTION!
If JX40 storage modules are available: Ensure that at least one power supply unit
of each JX40 storage module and one power supply unit of the server are
connected with the same phase.
2. If JX40 storage modules are available:
Connect the SAS IN port of the first JX40 module (labeled JX40-1) to the upper port of
the SAS RAID card in slot 7 of the server as shown by figure
Gb/s Fibre Channel and without 10 Gb/s Ethernet" on page 91
If there are further JX40 modules, connect the OUT port of the module JX40-1 to the IN
port of module JX40-2 and so forth.
CAUTION!
The sequence of the JX40 storage expansion modules must be observed precisely
when they are mounted and connected to each other, see
Rear of the Storage Expansion Module" on page 77
. Otherwise the system will
not work and might get damaged.
Also consider the maximum length of the SAS cables: The maximum length of the
cable between the server and the first JX40 module (JX40-1) is 3.5m and the
cables between the JX40 modules have a maximum length of 1.1m.
Using longer cables may cause malfunction with a risk of data loss!
