6 Brakes

6.1 Description

The braking system fitted to Nuova Punto includes, in its fullest version, the following items:

ABS

: wheel antilock system;

EBD

: electronic braking distributor between the front and rear wheels;

ESP

: electronic vehicle stability control (available on request);

ASR

: traction control;

MSR

: wheel antilock function in case of excessive exhaust braking;

Hill-holder

(with ESP): a device that allows the driver to park and start the vehicle again along

steep roads without using the handbrake;

HBA:

emergency braking assist device.

The braking system is of the hydraulic, power-assisted type and is made up of 2 self-contained

crossed circuits (each circuit acts on a front wheel and the diagonally opposing rear wheel) in

order to ensure braking and vehicle stability even when one of the circuits is broken.
