Second Alarm
This READ/WRITE bit-field is used to enforce the one second alarm rule by
the yellow alarm transmission duration standards.
If the one second alarm rule is enforced, yellow alarm must be transmitted
for at least one second for both ESF and SF. In addition, a yellow alarm sig-
nal may be interrupted for up to 100ms, and there must be a minimum of
one second delay after termination of the first RAI and the initiation of a sub-
sequent RAI.
If the one second alarm rule is not enforced, RAI will still be transmitted for
at least one second, however, minimum one second delay between termi-
nation of the first RAI and the initiation of the subsequent RAI is not
enforced. Further, when the one second alarm rule is not enforced, the
YEL[0] and YEL[1] bits (bits 5-4 of this register) are used to control the dura-
tion as well as the format for RAI transmission.
0 - Setting this bit to ‘0’ will not enforce the one second alarm rule.
1 - Setting this bit to ‘1’ will enforce the one second alarm rule.
N
OTE
: When setting this bit to ‘0’, yellow alarm transmission will be back-
ward compatible with the XRT86L38 device.

Alarm Enable
This READ/WRITE bit-field is used to control the duration of the transmis-
sion of yellow alarm when the one second alarm is enforced (bit 7 of this
register). The duration of the transmission of yellow alarm is controlled by
the YEL[0] and YEL[1] bits if the one second alarm is not enforced.
If the one second alarm rule is enforced:
0 - Setting this bit to ‘0’ will stop the transmission of yellow alarm.
1 - Setting this bit to ‘1’ will start the transmission of yellow alarm.
N
OTE
: This bit has no function if the one second alarm rule is not enforced.
