Overriding the Tape Drive World-Wide Names
By default, the tape drives use the world-wide names (WWNs) set by their
manufacturer. These are the WWNs reported to an application. If you want to
be able to replace tape drives without causing new WWNs to be reported to
the application, you can set an option that overrides the tape drives’ WWNs.
When you use the Override Drive WWN option, the library generates unique
WWNs for each tape drive based on its own WWN. These WWNs remain in
effect for any tape drives installed in the two tape drive bays.

Important
If you turn on the Require Hard ID option, and the Loop ID you
selected for the library or a tape drive is already in use by another
device on the network, the library or tape drive will not be able to
log onto the network and will be unable to participate on the
Fibre Channel loop.
To ensure that the library and tape drive(s) use soft addressing
when the Loop ID you set is unavailable, disable (0) the Require
Hard ID option.
