To add or remove individual cartridges from the library without interrupting
operation, use the library’s entry/exit port. To use the entry/exit port, you must
unlock the entry/exit port door. To move cartridges to or from the entry/exit
port, you must issue a Move Cartridge command to the library (see page 128 ).
If necessary, you can access the cartridges and tape drive(s) by opening the
front door. Note that opening and closing the door causes the library to
perform a cartridge inventory. To open the front door, you must unlock it.
The following sections explain how to unlock/lock the entry/exit port door and
unlock the front door from the Remote Management utility. See page 57 for
information about how to use the entry/exit port to add and remove
cartridges. See page 55 for information about how to remove and replace
cartridge magazines.

To unlock the entry/exit port door:

1. Set the library’s control mode to Remote (see page 92 ).

3. Click on Unlock the entry/exit port door. A page similar to Figure 6-21
appears.

Important
The front door and the entry/exit port door may be prevented from
unlocking by the library application. If access has been prevented
through the application, you must issue commands from the
application to allow access.
