Differential Lock Cable Removal, Continued:
6. Unhook the cable spring (1) from the differential lock arm (3) (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
7. Using a pair of pliers, apply pressure to the locking tabs of the cable end (4) where it attaches to the
cable mounting bracket (2) at the transaxle (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
8. Pull cable (5) toward the front of the vehicle in order to remove the cable from the bracket (2) (Figure
16-117, Page 16-50).
9. Remove the cable from the vehicle.
DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CABLE INSTALLATION
1. Route the cable through the engine mounting plate as illustrated (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
2. Route the cable spring (1) through the cable bracket (2) as illustrated (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
3. Connect the differential lock cable spring end (1) to the differential lock arm (3) on the differential lock
housing (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
4. Push the cable (5) toward the rear of the vehicle in order to secure the cable to the bracket (2) (Figure
16-117, Page 16-50).
5. Connect the differential lock cable end to the differential lock handle.
5.1. Connect the end of the differential lock cable to the differential lock handle (step 1) (Figure 16-
113, Page 16-46).
5.2. Push down on the cable to secure the end of the cable to the differential lock handle (step 2) (Fig-
ure 16-113, Page 16-46).
5.3. Rotate the cable sheath counterclockwise to route the cable through the bracket (step 3) (Figure
16-113, Page 16-46).
5.4. Push the cable toward the front of the vehicle to secure the cable to the bracket (Figure 16-114,
Page 16-46).
5.5. Secure the cable to the vertical support as shown with a wire tie (6) (Figure 16-117, Page 16-50).
6. Inspect the differential lock system for proper operation. See Differential Lock System Inspection on
page 16-49.
