18. Department of Commerce Compliance
A.
General
(1)
The Department of Commerce/Bureau of Export Administration’s “Revision of the Commodity
Control List” permits shipment of commercial GPS products for General Destination (G-Dest)
export only if they contain certain software provisions. To comply with the G-Dest category, the
KGX 150 series with an internal GPS operates neither at altitudes above 60,000 feet (18,287
meters) MSL, nor at velocities more than 513 m/sec (about 1,000 knots). If either condition is
detected, the GPS discontinues outputting signals and position data on its RS-232 port.
