preserved with protective covers. After being cleaned and washed, the tractor shall be
purged with compressed air to remove moisture. Damaged paint shall be restored by apply-
ing paint coating or protective grease.
The painting shall be performed in accordance with GOST 6572-91.
In case of long-term outdoor storage, electrical equipment, components made of
rubber, polymer and textile materials (hydraulic circuit hoses, etc.) and tools shall be dis-
mounted, prepared for storage and sent to a warehouse. Parts for fastening the tractor
dismounted components shall be installed back into their places. Electrical equipment
(headlights, accumulator battery, etc.) shall be cleaned, purged with compressed air, the
terminals shall be coated with protective grease.
When preparing the tractor for long-term storage, it is required to carry out internal and
outside preservation procedures for the engine according to the engine operation manual.
Grease all tractor units according to clause 3 of table 6.7.1 of the present operation manual.
Drain oil and refill fresh oil with the required amount of additives up to the control level to the
housings of transmission, FDA wheel gear groups, hydraulic systems of RLL, HSC and HPS.
Run the tractor in for 10-15 minutes. Place accumulator batteries for long-term storage after
conducting control-training cycle in accordance with GOST 9590-76. Open hinges, screw and
threaded connections of the linkage mechanism, of the steering, splined surfaces of the PTO
shaft end and of cardan shafts, protruding parts of cylinder rods and of the shock absorbers,
mechanisms for adjusting the front and rear wheel treads shall be treated for preservation.
The fuel tank neck, breather holes of the engine, of the transmission and of the hydraulic sys-
tems, the engine exhaust pipe, the air cleaner inlet pipe, the respective openings after the
starter removal and other cavities through which precipitations can get into the internal cavi-
ties of the tractor components and assembly units, shall be tightly closed with covers, plastic
film bags or with other special appliances. Set the control levers and pedals to a position that
excludes arbitrary engagement of the components and assemblies of the tractor.
Open storage of unloaded pneumatic tires on tractors, resting on plates, is allowed.
Tire surface shall be covered with protective agent. Tire pressure shall be decreased to 70%
of the standard in case of open and closed storage. It is required to clean exterior surfaces of
the hydraulic system flexible hoses from mud and oil. Hoses may be kept on the tractor. In
this case they shall be coated with protective substance or wrapped with insulating material
(wax paper, polyethylene film, etc.).
The hoods and cab doors shall be closed.
Regularly, in cold season or at long-term storage, the cylinder mechanism, located in
button 2 (figure 2.19.1) of door lock handle, shall be checked for lubrication by means if in-
jecting agents (HG5501, WD-40).
Maintenance during storage includes checking if tractors are properly placed on
stands or plates (absence of skewness), checking for completeness of a set, air pressure in
tires, air tightness, state of anticorrosion coatings (protective grease, paint integrity, absence
of corrosion), state of protective accessories (integrity and holding strength of cases and co-
vers). Detected defects shall be eliminated.
Tractor technical maintenance when removing from storage includes taking the tractor
off the stands, cleaning and if required depreservation of the tractor and its components, re-
moval of air-tight packoff, reinstallation of previously dismounted components, tools, check of
operation and adjustments of tractor and its components including the engine in accordance
with the engine operation manual 243-0000100 OM (or 243С/245С-0000100 OM, if your
tractor is equipped with engine 243С).
