4.2.3 Start of tractor movement, GB shifting

 

 

WARM  UP  THE  ENGINE  TO  REACH  STABLE  OPERATION  AT  CRANKSHAFT 

RPM OF 800-1000 WITHIN THE TIME FROM 2 TO 3 MINUTES, AND THEN LET IT RUN 
AT  HIGHER  RPM  BY  GRADUALLY  INCREASING  THE  SPEED  TO  1600  RPM,  UNTIL 
THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE REACHES 50ºC! 

 

 

IT  IS  FORBIDDEN  TO  OPERATE  THE  TRACTOR  IF  WITH  THE  ENGINE  RUN-

NING,  THE  EMERGENCY  ENGINE  OIL  PRESSURE  LAMP  IS  GLOWING.  STOP  THE 
ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. 

 

Before starting the movement, define a necessary speed of tractor movement. The 

diagram  of  speeds  for  tractor  BELARUS-80.1/82.1/820  on  tyres  of  basic  configuration  is 
given  in  the  instruction  plate  on  the  right  window  in  the  cab,  as  well  as  in  section 
2.13 “Shifting of gears”. 

To put the tractor in motion, do the following: 
- reduce engine speed;  
- depress the clutch pedal; 
- set a required GB range using the range and gear shifting lever according to the 

range shifting diagrams in section 2.13 “Gear shifting”, then set a desired speed by moving 
the range and gear shifting lever into one of positions according to the gear shifting dia-
gram in section “Gear shifting”; 

- if necessary, switch the stage of step-down reduction unit (for tractors with reverse 

reduction unit, if necessary, switch the reverse reduction unit to the necessary tractor trav-
el mode); 

- disengage the parking brake, gradually release the clutch pedal while simultane-

ously increasing fuel feed. The tractor will start moving. 

 

 

IT IS PROHIBITED TO START TRACTOR MOVEMENT WITH BIG TRACTION LOAD. 

 

 

TRACTOR MOVEMENT WITH AN OPEN DOOR IS PROHIBITED. 

 

 

IT IS PROHIBITED TO USE THE “R” REVERSE GEAR IN TRACTION MODE. 

 

 

ATTENTION:  WHEN  STARTING  TO  MOVE,  MAKE  SURE  THE  PARKING  BRAKE IS 

DISENGAGED! 

 

ATTENTION: SWITCH THE GB GEARS AND RANGES ONLY WITH THE TRAC-

TOR STOPPED AND THE COUPLING CLUTCH DISENGAGED! ENGAGE AND DISEN-

GAGE  THE  FIRST  GEAR,  SHIFT  TO  THE  FIRST  GEAR  FROM  A  HIGHER  ONE,  EN-

GAGE  AND  DISENGAGE  REVERSE  MODE  ONLY  AFTER  THE  TRACTOR  IS  FULLY 

STOPPED AND WITH THE COUPLING CLUTCH DEPRESSED!

ATTENTION: THE STEP-DOWN REDUCTION GEAR IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A 

FIXED  NEUTRAL  POSITION,  THEREFORE,  THE  STEP-DOWN  REDUCTION  UNIT 

SHALL  ALWAYS  BE  ENGAGED  EITHER  TO  THE  HIGH  OR  TO  THE  LOW  STAGE. 

SETTING  THE  LEVER  TO  NEUTRAL  (NON-FIXED  POSITION)  IS  ALLOWED  ONLY 

WHEN STARTING THE ENGINE IN A COLD SEASON.
