Twin joint 24 (figure (3.10.5) is connected to the FDA differential by means of half
axle shaft with spline ends 13 (figure 3.10.4) on one side, and on the other side to drive
gear 17 (figure 3.10.5) of the spur gear.
Drive gear is mounted on two tapered roller bearings 18. One of them is mounted in
the boring of casing 35, the second – in cage 22. Twin joint is fixed in the gear with a
washer 15 and bolt 14 with bending plate. Bearings 18 are adjusted by means of shims 21,
which are mounted between the cage and the wheel gear group casing.
Drive gear of the wheel gear group meshes with gear cluster 34 (driven gear of spur
gear), the second crown of which is a sun gear or a drive part of planetary gear set. Driven
part of the planetary gear set, connected to the tractor wheel is wheel flange, which is
connected rigidly through splines to planet carrier 5, three planetary gears 11, and epicy-
clic gear 12 serves as a blocked gear, which perceives reaction torque.
The epicyclic gear is mounted in the wheel gear group cover and is locked against
turning by three pins 13. Between the cover and the casing of the wheel gear group seal-
ing liner is installed. The sun gear is mounted on the wheel flange on tapered double-row
roller bearing 33, which is locked on one side by thrust ring 36, contacting with the planet
carrier, and on the other side by two lock rings 31, 32.
Planetary gears rotate on shafts 7, mounted in the borings of planet carrier 5. Bear-
ings of planetary gears are cylindrical rollers 8. One track of rollers is grind surface of shaft
7, and the other – grind inner surface of planetary gear 11.
Planetary gears and rollers are held in place by washers 10 from axial movement.
From axial offset of the planetary gear shafts press fitting is used in connection of the planet
carrier with the shaft. To check the correctness of pressing and additional fixation there is
screw 9, mounted in the shafts groove.
The wheel flange is mounted on two roller bearings. One of them is mounted in the
wheel gear group cover 6, the second - in cup 30, which is mounted in the boring of the
wheel gear group casing, is closed with cover 28 and secured to it by bolts. Between the cup
and the casing sealing liner is installed.
The bearings are adjusted by tightening of nut 26. Between bearing 29 and nut 26
washer 27 is installed. To prevent unscrewing, nut collar is center punched in the wheel
flange slot.
Filling of oil in the wheel gear group casing is carried out up to the lower edge of the
filler hole, in which plug 39 is installed (figure 3.10.4), and drain - by unscrewing drain plug
40.
Sealing of inner cavity of the wheel gear group is carried out by gaskets 3 and 20
(figure 3.10.5). To prevent dirt entry to working edges of gasket 3 dirt trap 4 is mounted.
Sealing of the borings of swivel knuckle 35 and splines of twin joint is carried out by rubber
rings 19, 23, 25. To maintain normal pressure in the cavities of the wheel gear group
breather 16 is installed in the wheel gear group casing.
