CHAPTER 4

Care and Maintenance

Introduction

For maintenance not covered in this manual, contact Beckman Coulter Field Service. User messages are

discussed in

CHAPTER 3, Troubleshooting

. Refer to the applicable rotor manual and to Chemical

Resistances (publication IN-175) for instructions on the care of rotors and their accessories.

NOTE

It is your responsibility to decontaminate the centrifuge, as well as any rotors and accessories, before

requesting service by Beckman Coulter Field Service.

WARNING

Any maintenance procedure or servicing of this equipment that requires removal

of any covers can expose parts which involve the risk of electric shock or personal

injury. Make sure that the power switch is off (O) and the centrifuge is

disconnected from the main power source by removing its power plug from the

receptacle, and refer such servicing to qualified service personnel.

Do not use alcohol or other flammable substances in or near operating

centrifuges.

Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

The following procedures should be performed regularly to ensure continued performance and

long service life of the centrifuge.

Regularly inspect the interior of the rotor chamber for accumulations of sample, dust, or glass
particles from broken sample tubes.

Clean as required (see

Cleaning

, below), as these accumulations can result in rotor

vibrations.

Regularly check the air intake and exhaust vents for obstructions.

Keep vents clear and clean.
