Troubleshooting

Emergency Access

Emergency Access

If the facility power fails only momentarily, the centrifuge resumes operation when power is

restored and the rotor returns to set speed. However, if the rotor comes to a complete stop you have

to restart the run when the power is restored. In the event of an extended power failure, you may

have to trip the door-locking mechanism manually to remove the rotor and retrieve your sample.

WARNING

Any maintenance procedure requiring removal of a panel exposes the operator to

the possibility of electrical shock and/or mechanical injury. Therefore, turn the

power off and disconnect the instrument from the main power source by removing

its power plug from the receptacle, and refer such maintenance to qualified

service personnel.

Turn the power switch to off (

) and disconnect the power cord from the main power source

by removing its power plug from the receptacle.

WARNING

Never attempt to override the door interlock system while the rotor is spinning.

Make sure that the rotor is not spinning.

CAUTION

Do not proceed if there is any sound or vibration coming from the drive.

Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry off the two round screw-hole covers on the centrifuge
front panel (see

Figure 3.1

).
