Chapter 14 Switch Configuration

NetAtlas EPON Manager User’s Guide

Max Age
(sec)

This is the maximum time (in seconds) a device can wait without receiving
a BPDU before attempting to reconfigure. All device ports (except for
designated ports) should receive BPDUs at regular intervals. Any port that
ages out STP information (provided in the last BPDU) becomes the
designated port for the attached LAN. If it is a root port, a new root port is
selected from among the device ports attached to the network. The
allowed range is 6 to 40 seconds (20 is the default).

Forward
Delay (sec)

This is the maximum time (in seconds) a device will wait before changing
states. This delay is required because every device must receive
information about topology changes before it starts to forward frames. In
addition, each port needs time to listen for conflicting information that
would make it return to a blocking state; otherwise, temporary data loops
might result. The allowed range is 4 to 30 seconds (15 is the default).

Config Name Enter a descriptive name (up to 32 characters) of an MST region.
Revision
Number

Enter a number to identify a region’s configuration. Devices must have the
same revision number to belong to the same region.

Max Hops

Enter the number of hops (between 1 and 255) in an MSTP region before
the BPDU is discarded and the port information is aged.

Apply

Click Apply to save your changes.

Copy to...

Click the Copy to.. button to copy the configuration from the device that
you are currently configuring to other device(s) of the same model.

MST ID

This field displays the ID of an MST instance.

Priority

This field displays the priority of the device for the MST instance.

VLAN

This field displays the VID (or VID ranges) to which the MST instance is
mapped.

New...

Click New... to create a new MST instance.

Modify...

Select an MST instance and click the Modify... button to open a screen
where you can change the settings.

Delete

Select an MST instance and then click the Delete button to remove it.

Copy to...

Click the Copy to.. button to copy the configuration from the device that
you are currently configuring to other device(s) of the same model.

Close

Click Close to exit this screen.
