Checking the thread quality
The more it rolls up the poorer the quality of the thread.
Thread quality compared: left – high-quality thread | right – poor-quality thread
If your thread is of good quality but still catches when unwinding, then turn
the spool over once. This is very helpful if your thread has been wound
incorrectly by the manufacturer (if the thread has not been wound correctly,
it cannot unwind smoothly).
If required, use a spool net.

Inserting a new needle
Based on our experience, we recommend using three new W6
WERTARBEIT needles in order to proceed with troubleshooting.
The needle must be inserted up to the stop in the needle holder. When
doing so, the flat side of the cover needle must point to the rear, see
“Changing needles” > “Inserting a needle” (page 35).
Use a W6 WERTARBEIT needle ELX705 of size 80 or size 90.
An unsuitable or damaged needle may lead to faulty or skipped stitches and
damage your needle plate, the presser foot and the hook.
