11.2 Maintenance that must be performed by
the customer
Your W6 cover requires more maintenance and cleaning than a conventional
sewing machine. The greater effort required is a result of the design as a large
quantity of fluff is generated when trimming the edges of the fabric. In addition, a
cover operates at very high speed. Particular attention must therefore be paid to
regular oiling of the moving parts.
Regular maintenance will increase the service life of your cover.
11.2.1
Cleaning the cover
Risk of injury posed by unexpected start-up
The foot controller is on the floor. This can lead to the cover starting up
unexpectedly if the foot controller is activated by, for example, a child, a
sufficiently heavy pet, an object or accidental pressing by the user
themselves.
►
Always unplug the power plug before replacing the presser foot.
- Remove the two slotted screws of the metal needle plate by means of
the slot screwdriver
- Check the metal needle plate for needle strikes and damage
- Smooth these needle strikes using 800-grit emery paper or order a replacement
in the W6 WERTARBEIT online shop if necessary.
- Check the presser foot for needle strikes and damage and smooth or replace it
if required.
Remove dust, lint and other contamination from the hook, front and back feed dogs
areas. If required, use a W6 brush for this purpose.
