7 Changing needles
Checking needles
Changing needles
In this chapter you will find information regarding the changing of
needles:
•
Checking needles (Page 33)
•
Removing needles (Page 34)
•
Inserting a needle (Page 35)
If needle, fabric and thread are matched, your cover will sew smoothly.
An unsuitable needle forces the thread through the fabric instead of
allowing it to glide through smoothly. This results in thread breakage,
damaged sewing thread or the cover skipping stitches.
►
For safety's sake, always use original W6 WERTARBEIT needles in
combination with tension-friendly and lint-free W6 thread.
7.1 Checking needles
Safety instructions: Use of needles
Only use W6 WERTARBEIT needles ELX705 of size 80 or 90 for this cover.
Never use standard household needles.
Never use bent or worn needles.
Never use needles with bent or damaged points.
Risk of injury posed by breaking needles
Worn or damaged needles can break and damage the cover. There is a risk
of injury posed by uncontrollably moving parts.
►
Replace worn or damaged needles.
Checking the needle. Top: straight; bottom: bent
It is easy to check whether a needle is bent. Place the needle on a flat
surface such as the cover or on the needle plate of the cover and check it
from all sides. Change the needle after 3 or 4 sewing projects.
“No needle lasts forever”.
