10.1 Stitch types and their use
Attention:
Notes on use
• The settings in the following tables are guidelines. In order to achieve optimal sewing results,
it is essential to adjust the thread tension for specific fabrics and stitches.
• The settings of the needle widths may vary depending on the type of fabric, setting, thread
tension selection and thread selection.
• Only change the thread tension in small increments; i.e. increase or decrease the thread
tension by 0.5.
• Always sew a test seam on the same type of fabric you wish to work with.
• In order to change a stitch, it is required to adjust the thread tension, change the position of
the needles or to select a different threading method.
• Setting a higher number increases the thread tension. The thread tension is decreased when
a lower number is set. Please note that the settings recommended here are merely
guidelines.
• When sewing a chain stitch (stitching programme 4), the stitch length must considerably
exceed the value of 2 mm.
• For stitches 1, 2 and 3, the stich length must be at least 2.5 mm.
• A normal stitch length is 3.
• Only fabrics that easily fit under the presser foot of the cover can be sewn. If the fabric is too
thick, no thread tension can be created.
• Damages caused by improper use do not constitute grounds for a warranty claim, these
include, e.g. excessive pulling or pushing of the fabric, sewing down fabric or sewing layers
of fabric too thick.
