Examine the failure as logged in the All Log Entries report or the log for the
NetBackup Request Manager service:
install_path
\NetBackup\logs\bprd\
mmddyy.log
to identify the failing name combination.
6. On the master server, perform one of the following:
• Create an install_path
\NetBackup\db\altnames\No.Restrictions
file. This lets any restore-client access any backed-up-client backups by
changing its NetBackup client name setting to specify backed-up-client.
or
• Create an install_path
\NetBackup\db\altnames\
peername file. This lets
restore_client access any backed-up-client backups by changing its
NetBackup client name setting to specify backed-up-client client.
or
• Add the backed-up-client name to the file
install_path
\NetBackup\db\altnames\
peername. This lets restore-client
access only the backups created on backed-up-client.
7. On restore-client, change the NetBackup client name setting to match what is
specified on backed-up-client. (Remember that on UNIX clients, the contents
of
$HOME/bp.conf
supercedes those of
/usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf
.)
8. Restore the files from restore-client.
9. Perform the following:
• Delete install_path
\NetBackup\logs\bprd
(and its contents).
• Delete the NetBackup configuration option,
VERBOSE
.
10. If you do not want the change to be permanent:
• Delete install_path
\NetBackup\db\altnames\No.Restrictions
(if
you created it)
• Delete install_path
\NetBackup\db\altnames\
peername (if you created
it)
• On restore-client, change the NetBackup client name to its original value.
