Backguard Removal and Replacement
This procedure applies for all backguard models (Lowback, High
Backguard with and without shelf, and Island Trim).
Be sure to check QuickFinder for relevant information, documentation,
and the correct part number when replacing this component.

If replacing with a different backguard model, the installation must
be performed with adherence to all procedures and
warnings/cautions in the Installation Manual.

Always check local building codes for the proper method of
installation. Local codes vary. Installation, electrical connections
and grounding must comply with all applicable codes. In the
absence of local codes the appliance should be installed in
accordance with the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA
54 current issue and National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70-
current issue. In Canada, installation must be in accordance with
the CAN 1-B149.1 and .2 – Installation Codes for Gas Burning
Appliances and/or local codes.

3. Remove and retain the four screws on the front-facing side of the
backguard (see Figure 89).

4. Remove and retain the screws on the on the back side of the
backguard (see Figure 90, page 62), and then lift the backguard
straight up to remove (see Figure 91, page 62).
NOTE:
When reinstalling, the back-facing side of the backguard
needs to be placed inside of the two guide channels (see
Figure 91, page 62).
