2.1.4 PCI Cards
The RES-32DCX supports two 3.3V 64-bit/133-MHz and one 3.3V 64-bit/100-MHz
PCI-X card slots, one 5V 32-bit/33-MHz PCI card slot, two PCI-
Express card slots
(an x16 for a Graphics Card and an x4), and one SIM Low Profile IPMI slot. All
slots support cards up to 12.28-inches long. One of the 100-MHz PCI-X slots (see
green slot 1 in
Figure 2-6 ) supports an Ultra320-SCSI Zero-Channel RAID card.
2.1.4.1 Installing Cards
Perform the following steps to install a PCI or IPMI card:
1. Locate the slot within which a card will be installed (see A , Figure 2-6 ) and
remove the Phillips screw holding the blank I/O panel.
2. Remove the blank I/O panel and install the new card, securing its I/O faceplate
with the Phillips screw removed in Step 1 (see
B , Figure 2-6 ).
3. Carefully install each card into the appropriate slot, repeating Step 1 and
Step 2, until all cards have been installed.
4. Attach any internal I/O cables to the installed PCI cards, and carefully fold
and tuck any exposed ribbon cables into the cabinet.
5. If you have no further installations to perform, close the RES-32DCX chassis
by refastening the top cover removed in Step 1 on page 2-2.
