4. Proceed to the appropriate section to install or replace a memory module
(page 2-3), PCI card (page 2-9), 120-mm-fan housing (page 2-10), or lith-
ium battery (page 2-14).
2.1.2 Memory Modules
The RES-32DCX supports up to eight registered ECC DDR2 Fully-buffered DIMM
(FBD) Memory Modules (see
Table 2-1 ), up to a total memory capacity of 32 GB
(see Figure 2-2 on page 2-4).
The dual-channel memory bus can support full-duplex memory bandwidth transfers
of up to 3.2 GB/s. When installing memory, follow these rules:
• Two modules must be installed at a time, starting with DIMM 1A and 1B
(Bank 1), then 2A and 2B (Bank 2), 3A and 3B (Bank 3), and finally 4A and
4B (Bank 4); see
Figure 2-2 on page 2-4.
• It is strongly recommended that you do not mix memory modules of different
speeds and sizes. If DIMMs of different speeds have been installed, verify that
the BIOS setup is configured for the fastest speed of RAM used.
• Make sure that the correct type of SDRAM is being used (see Table 2-1 ).
Other types of SDRAM are not supported.
