CRANKSHAFT RUNOUT
Support the crankshaft using V-blocks and measure the crank-
shaft runout using the dial gauge, as shown. If the runout
exceeds the service limit, replace the crankshaft with a new one.
NOTE:
* Place the crankshaft onto the V-blocks so that it becomes hori-
zontally.
* Measure the runout from the tips of the crankshaft.
& Crankshaft runout
Service Limit: 0.08 mm (0.003 in)
% 09900-20607: Dial gauge (1/100 mm, 10 mm)
09900-20701: Magnetic stand
09910-21304: V-block set (100 mm)
CRANK BALANCER, BALANCER DRIVEN
GEAR AND DRIVE GEAR
INSPECTION
Inspect the crank balancer

, crank balancer drive gear
2
and
crank balancer driven gear
3
for wear or damage. If any defects
are found, replace the defective part.
STARTER CLUTCH
INSPECTION
Install the starter driven gear
1
onto the starter clutch and turn
the starter driven gear by hand to inspect the starter clutch for a
smooth movement. The gear turns one direction only. If a large
resistance is felt to rotation, inspect the starter clutch for dam-
age or inspect the starter clutch contacting surface of the starter
driven gear for wear or damage.
If they are found to be damaged, replace them with new ones.
DISASSEMBLY
• Hold the rotor and remove the bolts.
