1-3-5. Note in Replacing the TG-194 Board
When replacing the TG-194 board with a new one, remove the two PROMs (IC12 and IC24) on the new
board and replace them with the PROMs that were mounted on the former TG-194 board.
Note in Replacing a PROM
To remove a PROM, remove its socket frame.
This socket frame is so fragile. When removing the socket frame, therefore, it is recommended to use a
special removing tool listed below.
IC socket removing tool: Sony part No. J-6394-110-A
Socket frame: Sony part No. 1-540-194-12
If it is not available, use a small slotted screwdriver or similar item as a substitute for it. To remove the
socket frame by using a screwdriver, proceed as follows.
Removing a socket frame (by using a screwdriver)
Insert the screwdriver as shown in the figure and push it lightly in the direction of the arrow to unhook the
frame socket.
