AXP1440-C07 Shelf Description
2.1 Overview
The AXP1440-C07 shelf supports 14 AdvancedTCA blade slots, of which 12 are node slots
that can be populated with task CPU processor blades, network processor blades, or any
other blade designed for a specific application. It has two slots for the system controller and
switching blades. There are slot locations below the AdvancedTCA slots in the rear of the
shelf for the two SAM1620-Ds (Shelf Management Controller). All slots comply with PICMG
3.0 for power distribution and form factor and PICMG 3.1 for Ethernet and Dual Star
interface. The shelf’s other components include two Power Entry Modules (PEMs), one
Upper Fan Tray module (UFT1440-D), one Lower Fan Tray module (LFT1440), and front
and rear cable management trays (optional).
2.2 Platform Features
The AXP1440-C07 shelf features include:

Designed to support rugged shipboard applications

Enhanced top and bottom plates for mounting rugged rail systems, which include
shock pins

14-slot card cage with two rear transition module slots

Two Shelf Management Controllers (ShMC)

Up to two PICMG 3.0 compliant system controller and switching blades

Two DC hot-swappable, 2N+1 redundant power entry modules

One ruggedized upper fan tray module

One standard lower fan tray module

Front access service and installation of blades and lower fan tray module

Rear access service and installation of RTMs, SAM1620-Ds, upper fan tray
module, and PEMs

Cable management, front and rear

Alarm Display Panel (ADP1440-D) for alarms located on the front of the shelf

Filler panels for front and rear slots

Component lock down captive screws to enhance shock and vibration
characteristics of the system

