This sets the floating RMCP IP address associated with the Active shelf manager specified
by the IP address supplied in the command. The Standby shelf manager floating RMCP
address will be the exclusive-OR of the least significant bit of that address. If the IP address
assigned with the
setlanconfig
is odd, the Standby shelf manager floating RMCP IP
address will be 1 less than the active. If the RMCP IP address for the Active shelf manager
is even, then the RMCP IP address for the Standby shelf manager will be greater by 1. For
information on configuration of additional characteristics of the RMCP interface, like subnet
address and so on, refer to
Pigeon Point Shelf Manager External Interface Reference,
listed in

Switchover Signals
A switchover takes place when the Standby SAM1620-D determines that the Active
SAM1620-D is no longer operational. The signs of this are:
The REMOTE_HEALTHY or REMOTE_PRESENT changes to FALSE
This indicates that the peer SAM1620-D is no longer healthy or present.
The TCP connection between the Active and the Standby SAM1620-D closes
The keep alive time-out parameter for this connection is set to 1 second to
recognize a malfunction of the Active SAM1620-D as quickly as possible. In this
case the Standby SAM1620-D waits for 3 seconds and then checks the state of the
REMOTE_HEALTHY to make sure the connection is broken due to a failure of the
Active SAM1620-D and not due to a communication failure.
If the Standby SAM1620-D detects that the Active SAM1620-D is still healthy it
doesn’t perform the switchover but instead reboots itself. After the reboot it makes
a second attempt to initialize as a backup and continues until it succeeds in
establishing the connection with the Active SAM1620-D or it detects that the Active
SAM1620-D is no longer healthy. If it detects that it isn’t healthy it initializes as the
Active SAM1620-D.
When the Active SAM1620-D receives a switchover command from the Standby
SAM1620-D and agrees to switchover.
The Active SAM1620-D closes the TCP connection, clears the LOCAL_HEALTHY bit
and exits the program which indicates the switchover to the Standby SAM1620-D.
If the Standby SAM1620-D decides that a switchover should take place it closes
the TCP connection and exits this function. Activate callbacks are called for all
facilities and the SAM1620-D starts to work in active mode, with no backup. At this
moment the SAM1620-D sets the LOCAL_SWITCHOVER bit, requesting the
