8.5.2  ATCS Vital Protocol 

Vital ATCS serial protocol data may be incorporated with either the Ethernet or Echelon 
LONTALK

®

 protocol to allow communication to another GCP5000 unit.  

When Ethernet is selected, the Laptop port on the CPU III will be used to route the vital ATCS 
messages. It is recommended to connect the Laptop port to an Ethernet Switch. So the user 
can still access the Web UI. This can be changed from either the Display or the CPU III Web UI.

When the laptop Ethernet port is used for vital ATCS comms, it should no longer be set as 
Server in the DHCP configuration. The usual setting will be to use set to Disabled and use a 
fixed IP address.  Note that this has to be set from the CPU III Web UI.
