Starting & Driving
Kick-down
The use of the kick-down function on the
slippy road surface may cause the wheel-spin,
which may lead to a sideslip danger.
In D position, depress the accelerator pedal once fully
(this is known as Kick-down) to provide good acceleration
performance for overtaking.
At certain speeds, it will
allow the transmission to downshift a proper low gear
immediately, and provide fast acceleration.
Once the
accelerator pedal is released, it will resume the normal gear
shift speed (based on the vehicle speed and accelerator
pedal position).
Vehicle Start
Depress the brake pedal, and you must put the gear lever
into P or N position to start the engine. After shifting into
the required gear, release the brake pedal until the gear is
completely engaged, then depress the acceleration pedal to
start driving.
Driving on Hill
In case of traffic jam for a short stay
on the uphill road, DO NOT frequently
use the accelerator pedal to keep the
vehicle from sliding, and this will result in
transmission overheating or even damage the
transmission.
Uphill Start
'Assist Starting' is a function of EPB to prevent sliding from
steep hill start. When you fasten your seat belt, depress
the brake pedal, switch on the EPB, move gear level to
the required gear (D/R/W/S), then release the foot brake.
Once you depress the accelerator pedal and get ready to
start, the EPB will be automatically switch off to assist
starting.
In addition, models feature 'Hill Hold' function enable you
to start on steep hill conveniently. For detail, please refer
to 'Hill Hold Function' of 'Brakes' in this section.
Note: Even with the help of assist function, there will
still be the risk of slide after exceeding the physical
limitations.
