Starting & Driving
Fail Safe
For parking, you shall guarantee to drive the
vehicle to a safe area on the premises of
self-security and compliance with local traffic
regulations.
Transmission Overheating
For frequent starting under hot weather or transmission
is overload, the transmission is likely to become very
hot.
To avoid damage, the transmission will execute
the overheating protection, whilst the warning indicator
and a warning message of 'Gearbox Over Heat' are
displayed in the message centre followed by 1 warning
sound, the warning message disappears 3 seconds later
and the warning indicator
continues to be displayed.
In this case, stop vehicle and keep engine idling or keep
driving in one fixed gear at constant speed to cool the
transmission. NEVER start or shift until the transmission
temperature decreases and the message centre no longer
displays the transmission overheating warning indicator or
message.
IMPORTANT
• When the transmission is in overheating protection
period, to avoid transmission damage, the shift shock
will be obvious, but this phenomenon will disappear
until the transmission temperature is restored to
normal.
• After the warning indicator
appears in the
message centre, if you continue to start or shift,
overheating will be deteriorated.
The system
will forcibly disconnect the power from engine to
transmission until both warning indicator
and
gear display 'EP' appear in the message centre, at
this time, the vehicle cannot be driven! MUST stop
vehicle immediately, keep engine idling to cool the
transmission.
After the transmission is correctly cooled for a long time
(approx 20 minutes), if the above warning indicator still
does not go out, please contact MG Authorised Repairer
for service as soon as possible, otherwise it may seriously
damage the transmission.
