
Determine the source switch and the destination switch.

Determine the mirrored source port and the mirrored destination port.

Guarantee the Layer 3 interoperability between the source switch and the
destination switch.

Determine the direction of monitored packets.
Configuring the Source Switch
Configuring the ERSPAN Session
To configure the ERSPAN for the switch and differentiate the ERSPAN attributes of
the switch, run the following commands:

Ruijie(config)# monitor session
session_num erspan-source
Configure the ERSPAN session on the
source switch.
Configuring the Source Ports
The source port is also known as the monitored port. In a ERSPAN session, the
data flow on the source port is monitored for the network analysis or troubleshooting.
In a single ERSPAN session, users can monitor the incoming, outgoing and
bidirectional data flow, and the number of source ports is not limitted.
The source port comes with the following features:

The source port can be a switched port, a routed port or an AP (Aggregation
Port).

Multiple source ports on the source device can be mirrored to the specified
output port.

The source port and the output port cannot be the same one.

When the mirrored source port is a Layer 3 port, Layer 2 packets and Layer 3
packets can be monitored.
