Configuration Guide
Stack Management
ensure that the selected device is the host in the stack. The priorities of the devices are 1 to10
from low to high, and defaulted to 1. For the detailed setting methods, see
Configuring the
Device Priority
. When the stack is started, you can use the
show member
command to show
the information of the stack members. You can determine the devices in the stack and their
sequences according to their MAC addresses.
You are recommended to arrange the devices that need be stacked from device 1 to device N
and connect the stack cables according to the above rule to facilitate management.
Caution
In a stack, you can only execute out-band management by using the serial
port of the host. Therefore, you are recommended to first select a host before
you establish a stack, and set its priority to a higher one in the standalone
mode. As a result, you can ensure that the selected device is the host in the
stack.
Configuring the Device Priority
Run the following commands to configure the device priority in the global mode:
Command
Description
Ruijie(config)
# device-priority
[
member
]
priority
member:
1-MAX, configuring the member device.
priority:
1-10, specifying the priority of the device.
Device 1 is configured as a member device by default.
For example: Specify the priority of member device 2 to 8:
Ruijie(config)#
device-priority
2 8
Caution
After the configuration is completed, you need to execute the
write
command
to save it. After the stack is reset, the priority takes effect only after a new
stack system is established.
Configuring the Device Alias
You can set an alias for a stack member device to facilitate memory. In the global configuration
mode, execute the following command to configure the alias:
Command
Description
Ruijie(config)
# device-description
[

The length of the string is
31 characters, it
indicates the alias of the device. By default, the
configured a member device is 1.
For example: Specify the alias of member device 2 to
red-giant
:
Ruijie(config)#
