5.7.1.2 Set the Transmit Power (Power)
The Power setting allows the operator to increase or decrease the amount of power
(acoustic energy) transmitted into the water. There are multiple increments (from OFF to
maximum value), each accounting for an increase of approximately 1dB.
For examples on how to use this setting, see
section 6.2.2 Transmit Power OFF
5.7.1.3 Set the Beam Mode
The beam mode can be switched on the fly without
restarting the 7k Center. The various options appear in a
drop-down menu on clicking the arrow. Click to select the
desired option (for details, see
section 7.1 Beam Modes
).
This feature is used in conjunction with Vari-Swath (see
section 5.7.1.7 below
).

mode adds two extra settings to the Main Sonar Control tab:
Survey Altitude:
This setting allows the operator to set the survey altitude.
Outside Spacing:
This setting allows the operator to define the sounding
spacing in the outer low-density swath (see
section 7.1 Beam Modes
5.7.1.4 Set the Maximum Ping Rate (Max Rate)
The Max Rate setting allows the operator to limit the number of pings per second (p/s),
independent of the current range setting. The ping range available is from 0 to 50p/s in
increments of 1. The normal value for Max Rate is 50 to ensure unhindered operation of
the sonar.
For examples on how to use this setting, see
NOTE
If Max Rate is set to 0, the system will not ping or receive data.
If Max Rate is set to a value higher than the range-determined ping rate, the sonar will
ping at the rate determined by the range setting.
If Max Rate is set to a value lower than the range-determined ping rate, the sonar will
ping at the rate specified by Max Rate.
