5.7.1.5 Set the Gain
The Gain setting allows the operator to select the amount of receiver gain applied to the
returned sonar signal (in addition to the calculated gain). The gain range available is
from 0 to 83dB, and is applied throughout the range as a fixed gain value.
For examples on how to use this setting, see
section 6.2.4 Receiver Gain
5.7.1.6 Set the Pulse Length
The Pulse Length setting allows the operator to change the pulse length of the
transmitted signal. The pulse lengths available are from 33µs to 300µs in increments of
approx. 10µs (steps larger at higher end of the scale).
For examples on how to use this setting, see
section 6.2.1 Pulse Length and Image
5.7.1.7 Set Vari-Swath
10
Three settings allow the operator to control the swath coverage (using slider or mouse):
Horizontal Steering:
This setting allows the operator to steer the swath
electronically at an angle between -63° to 63° (max.) in increments of 5°. The
achievable steering angle depends on the coverage angle selected (see also
section 6.2.5.2 Horizontal Steering
Coverage Angle:
This setting allows the operator to change the swath width
from maximum 140° (or 165°) to 45° in increments of 5°.
Default:
This button resets all Vari-swath selections:
o
Horizontal Steering will be set to 0.
o
Coverage angle will be set to max. dependent on Beam Mode
selection.
Enable Beam Reduction:
Select this check box to form only the number of
beams necessary to populate the given coverage sector.
This feature is used in conjunction with Beam Mode (see
section 5.7.1.3 above
For examples on how to use this setting, see
section 6.2.5 Vari-Swath
5.7.1.8 Frequency Switch
With a dual-frequency system, the frequency can be switched on the fly via radio buttons
on the Main Sonar Settings tab or the System menu (see
section 4.3 Frequency Switch
) without restarting the 7k Center. If Flex is the selected Beam Mode (see
section 5.7.1.3 above
), the tab will also include Flex mode settings.
