NOTE
Accuracy of the bathymetric data depends entirely on valid time sync and SVP input
from this module, unless another solution such as PDS2000 is being used to perform
this function.
In the absence of time sync, a software time stamp is employed. However, this usually
results in poor data quality, as the time stamp is applied AFTER the last sample is
received.
In the absence of online SVP input, the input from the Ocean Menu tab (see
section
5.7.3.3 Set the Sound Velocity
is used instead.
4.5.1 Device Types
NOTE
If data is to be logged in the S7K format, it may be advantageous to log position and
heading as well. To achieve this, position and heading sensors should be interfaced
though the I/O module in addition to the mentioned sensors.
4.5.1.1 Sound Velocity Probe
To achieve correct beam steering in equidistant mode, the sonar needs to have an up-
to-date online sound velocity measurement from the water in the area of the sonar head.
The sound velocity
must always
be entered in the I/O module, even if PDS2000 or a
different acquisition system is used. For installation instructions, see
appendix C.4.1
