5.6 Built-In Test Environment (BITE)
5.6.1 BITE
BITE is an integral part of the system and monitors several subassemblies within the
system for firmware version, temperature, voltage, communications status, and other
parameters.
Each subassembly is displayed on a separate tab on the BITE tab.

An out-of-tolerance parameter turns the LED to red on the BITE Status tab and the
individual board tabs to alert the operator.
The BITE tabs can also be used to verify an installation, firmware update, or to diagnose
installation problems. For instance, if no wedge display is present after software startup,
checking the BITE tabs can help localize the failure.
If a firmware update is done in the field, the BITE tabs are useful for verifying that the
new version has been accepted.
