C.7 System Check
Once the SeaBat 7125 SV2 has been installed, follow these steps to ensure that the
system is working properly. For information on the settings, see
section 5.7 Sonar
1. Ensure that all system cable connections are mated properly.
2. Verify the main power is available.
3. Energize the monitor.
4. Ensure the power switch on the rear of the transceiver is in the ON position.
5. Energize the system.
6. Start the sonar by double-clicking the 7kControlCenter icon on the operator
desktop and first selecting the desired system settings (see also
section 3.3
Starting the 7k Control Center and Sonar
).
7. Verify that the Power setting on the Main Sonar Settings tab is set to OFF.
8. Once the system has been energized, follow these steps to verify that the
system is operating correctly:
a. Set the Range to 150.
b. Set Max Rate to 4.
c. Set the Gain to 30.
d. Select Blue-Yellow from the Palette drop-down menu on the Primary
Display Settings tab.
e. Perform a receiver check by vigorously rubbing the face of the receiver
unit with fingertips while monitoring the display. A noise pattern should
be barely visible on the display.
f. Gradually increase the Power setting on the Main Sonar Settings tab
while an assistant presses an ear against the projector face. Continue
to increase the power until the assistant can hear pings (ticking
sounds) emitting from the front of the projector to just below FULL for a
very short period.
g. Turn transmit Power to OFF as soon as possible.
CAUTION
Transmitting into air for any period of time may result in the damage of the ceramics
of the projector and will result in degraded performance.
